Lab Movers provides moving, rigging, packing, and storage support for companies that build and service laboratory equipment. We move your instruments between your dock, our storage, and your customers’ labs so your field service engineers can start work on equipment already in place.
Manufacturers call us when a unit has to travel, and the job is bigger than a parcel shipment. That might be a new instrument going into a customer’s lab, an installed system moving with a customer to a new building, or a unit that needs a place to wait before install day. We handle the physical move. Your engineers handle the science.

When manufacturers bring in our movers
Most requests from equipment manufacturers fall into one of four situations.
A new instrument needs to reach the customer’s bench. Freight carriers deliver to a loading dock. Your instrument still has to get through corridors, into an elevator, and onto a bench or into a specific room. Our movers take it from the dock to its final position.
A customer is relocating a lab with your equipment in it. When your customer moves, your installed base moves too. We pack, crate, and transport those units so your engineers can decommission at the old site and recommission at the new one on a predictable schedule.
Units often sit between shipment and installation. Construction delays and site-readiness issues are common. We store units in ambient storage or cold storage until the room is ready.
The move crosses state lines or borders. Lab Movers is a Mayflower agent. That gives us access to Mayflower’s network for moves across the country and worldwide.
Tasks our movers handle for equipment manufacturers
- Receiving instruments at the customer’s site and moving them from the dock to the lab
- Packing fragile instruments, glassware, and accessories
- Building custom crates for sensitive and oversized equipment
- Tracking every crate and component on a written inventory
- Rigging and lifting heavy instruments into position
- Placing equipment at the destination for your engineer
- Transporting analytical instruments, centrifuges, and full lab setups
- Moving ULT freezers and temperature-sensitive materials
- Storing units in ambient or cold storage before delivery
- Keeping chain-of-custody records from pickup to delivery
How the handoff with your field service engineers works
A manufacturer support job has two sides. Our movers handle packing, crating, rigging, transport, storage, and placement. Your engineers handle calibration, qualification, and service.
The work follows the same three stages we use for every lab move.
- Request your quote. Tell us the instrument, its size and weight, the pickup and delivery sites, and the date your engineer is scheduled. We build the move plan around that schedule.
- Pack and prepare. Our movers inventory, pack, and crate the equipment using materials made for sensitive scientific instruments. If your engineer needs to decommission the unit first, we schedule packing after that work is done.
- Relocate and place. We transport, deliver, and place the equipment with chain-of-custody documentation. Your engineer arrives to a unit that is already in the room.
Clear timing between your engineers and our movers is what keeps an install on schedule. Share your engineer’s availability at the quote stage, and we’ll plan around it.
Storage between the factory and the customer's lab
A finished instrument cannot always go straight to its new home. A lab may not be built yet. A permit may be late. A customer may need to stagger deliveries.
Our lab ambient storage service holds room-temperature equipment, dry chemicals, reagents, and lab supplies. Our lab cold storage service supports ULT freezers, cryogenic samples, and other temperature-sensitive biological materials. We store units until the site is ready, then our movers deliver and place them.
Instruments that ship with chemicals or reagents
Some systems travel with chemicals, solvents, or reagents. Lab Movers is DOT hazmat-certified under 49 CFR. Our chemical packing service includes inventorying, segregating, and packing reagents, solvents, and hazardous materials for transport in compliance with DOT regulations.
