Lab Movers provides laboratory relocation in Philadelphia for research institutions, biotech companies, pharmaceutical firms, and medical facilities. We handle lab packing, chemical packing, equipment moving, and rigging for labs moving within Philadelphia or into and out of the city. Request a quote to start planning your move.
Moving laboratory and scientific equipment is our core work, and our movers are based in Hanover, Massachusetts. Philadelphia’s lab market centers on cell and gene therapy, and some newer buildings combine research labs with clean rooms and cGMP production space. If your lab sits near controlled areas like these, ask your facilities office which zones have their own entry and handling rules before the move is planned.
Each permit is non-refundable, and the City requires applications at least four business days before the permit date, so lock in your move date before you apply. Reach out as soon as you know your target window.
Philadelphia Lab Districts Our Movers Cover
Philadelphia’s lab space is grouped in a few districts, each with different buildings and access. Our movers serve labs in and around:
- University City, including uCity Square, Schuylkill Yards, and the area around Penn, Drexel, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Wistar Institute
- The Philadelphia Navy Yard, where new lab and biomanufacturing buildings have been added
- Center City, where The Curtis on Washington Square has added lab space
Curb space comes from the Department of Streets. A Temporary No-Parking permit for a moving truck costs $50 per 40 feet of curb per day in Center City and University City, and $25 elsewhere; 40 feet is about two parking spaces. The local police district provides the signs, which should go up at least 24 hours before the move. Each permit covers one address, so a move between two Philadelphia sites needs two permits.
Get Your Philadelphia Laboratory Relocation Quote
Not every Philadelphia lab move stays inside city limits. For example, Penn’s gene therapy program leased 150,000 square feet in King of Prussia when University City space ran short. If one address is outside the city, check that municipality’s street rules separately.
Request a Philadelphia lab moving quote with both addresses, your target dates, a list of major equipment, and any controlled areas at either site. Note items that need rigging and whether your chemical inventory is ready, and we will scope the move and follow up with next steps.
